10 Worst Word of Faith Teachers – #9 Pat Robertson

“Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.” (Matthew 7:15 KJV)

Please pray for Pat Robertson and his deceived followers.

  1. This is the first time I’ve heard Pat speak in many years. He’s gotten even worse with age. I wonder if he has the beginnings of Alzheimer’s.

I worked for Pat Robertson’s 700 Club for close to three years in the 1980s. I was there when he summoned all of his CBN employees to a large auditorium where he announced that God had told him to run for president. He said he wanted us to hear the news from him first, before he told the public and made it official.

At the end of a short speech, Pat asked if anyone had any questions. One brave soul raised his hand. “You said that God told you to run for president. Did he also tell you if you are going to win?”

Pat’s reply: “Well, let me put it this way. God does not back losers.”

I left that job in January of 1988 with my faith badly shaken by the things I had experienced behind the scenes of this world wide ministry. I decided that Christianity probably wasn’t true. For years, I was one miserable agnostic.

But God never gave up on me! Seventeen years ago, on March 11, 2003, I made a decision to simply believe what the Bible says about Jesus being the only begotten Son of God, sent to earth to teach us how to live, and dying on the cross to pay the price for our sins. I decided to believe that Jesus the Messiah rose from the dead to eternal life on the third day, and that by believing in Him, I would be made a new creation in Christ. In that moment of believing, I accepted Christ as my Savior and my Lord — and everything in my life began to change!

I have learned the hard way to keep my eyes on the perfect Lord Jesus, and not on fallible man.
