My allergies are killing me again, and somehow I just can’t get up for covering any more nooze. So it’s time to hand over to Byron the Quokka…

G’day, mates! Byron the Quokka here, with Bell Mountain trivia question No. 3. I hope some more of you will play–nothing quite so blah as a game that nobody plays. And remember, the winner gets a bicycle–oops! I mean an autographed book.

Let me hit you with a question that’s only a little bit hard.

Question: Who was the outlaw who called himself “the king of Lintum Forest”?

I’ve never met another quokka who couldn’t answer this one, but the contest’s only open to you humans. Don’t ask me why. I guess we just like to see you folks enjoy yourselves. And we’re tryin’ to help Lee sell some books.

Awesome Blogger Award

th.jpg
Lydia nominated me on June 27th, 2019!

Thank you so much, Lydia, for nominating me for the Awesome Blogger Award!! I’M VERY HAPPY!! Please check out her super awesome blog at: https://inhisserviceandlovingit.wordpress.com/ !!

<><><><><><><><>

Here are the rules…

  1. Thank the person/blogger who nominated you.
  2. Tag your post with #awesomebloggeraward.
  3. Answer all the questions given to you.
  4. Nominate at least 5 bloggers and inform them of their nomination.
  5. Give them 10 new questions to answer.

And here are the questions given to me by Lydia Potter:

What is the first thing you notice about a person? The first thing I notice is that person’s face. Then I try to remember that face so that I will recognize that person when we meet again.

What are some challenges you think the next generation will face? The next generation might have a hard time finding jobs since artificial intelligence is getting so high-tech that it’s taking the jobs away from humans. There are many other problems in the world, but God is in sovereign control, and we need not worry.

What is your favorite season and why? I like winter. Well, I think the atmosphere of the season is nice, and it gets nice and cozy in the house with the heater going and the coffee brewing. When it’s cold, we can adjust our body temperature by putting more layers on, but in summer, we can’t do that, and centipedes come out of hiding, so I don’t like summer. And also it feels comfortable in my heavy blankets when I sleep in winter.

If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be? Definitely not fried centipedes, but probably my choice would be taco rice. Once you start eating that it’s unstoppable.

What’s the number one item you would save from your burning house? I would save my translation work. I can’t afford to have all that hard work burned in the flames.

What makes you laugh the most? These fabulous funny videos, listed in Top-3 order!!!

#3 – I Like Orange Juice (Warning: it’s rather ridiculous)

#2 – Kentucky Fried Chicken

And to crown them all…

#1 – WOW… This is totally amazing…

(Found this video at: https://leeduigon.com/2019/02/01/hank-johnson-four-pressadint/ )

What is your favorite holiday? My favorite holiday is New Year’s Day, celebrating the new year and thanking God for all the countless blessing He has bestowed upon us the past year.

What is your third favorite meal? Hmm… that’s a hard one, but I guess it’s pizza. (#1 = taco rice; #2 = curry rice.)

When was the last time you washed a car? We washed it sometime last week.

What is something you’re looking forward to next week? I’m looking forward to going to church on the Lord’s Day.

Honor the Father Tag

img_1213-1.jpg

I have been nominated for the Honor the Father Tag by Jacquie A. Bradford on June 24th, 2019!! Thank you so much, Jacquie!! Please visit and follow her fantastic blog at https://joycottageblog.wordpress.com/

Here are the links to the original authors of this awesome tag: Dollfaced Writer and Purple Rose

From Dollface…

The Meaning of this Tag:

A father is someone who loves his child unconditionally, provides for them, protects them always, teaches them values, disciplines them fairly, and wants the best for them. For that, we should always, ALWAYS have respect for our fathers. They are created to bear the responsibility of caring for and protecting their families just as God calls them to do. Father’s Day is about reminding your father how much you appreciate him, but I hope this tag will perhaps remind you this month how blessed you are to have a father at all.

As I said before, this is a very hard day for me every year. My father and I have a very complex relationship. In fact, it is the polar opposite of my relationship with my mother. Growing up I felt abandoned, rejected, unloved, forgotten, and neglected because of his behavior that stemmed from alcoholism and what I believe could have been other mental health issues (don’t quote me, I’m not a doctor XD).

I will always love my father. He is a part of me, half of me to be exact. However, mustering the strength to honor or respect him at all has taken a long time to do. We talk sometimes over text, but not a lot. Some days he responds and I feel like we’re getting somewhere, then he vanishes like he always did. It has helped living a thousand miles away from him since finishing high school, but I have come to accept the pain I feel from my childhood will never go away. Recently, in the last week actually, he said something that has proven he’ll never change. I was trying to gain closure, but he continues to blame me for things that I may talk about in another post. Anyways, he may move on in his life, which is painful for me to watch, but that doesn’t change the past he continues to deny and blame me for.

If you have a similar situation, whether you have been abused, manipulated, abandoned, or rejected by your father (even someone else in your family), can I give you some advice that has helped me cope with such a toxic relationship?

You have a choice. You can walk away. You can block a number. You can say no. You can cut them off from your life. That doesn’t mean you don’t honor them, that just means you have enough respect for yourself to protect your heart and enough respect for them to love them at a safe distance. You can pray for someone every day and never talk to them again. Isn’t that better than subjecting yourself to more pain and building up further resentment that could become the poison of unforgiveness? I think so, because no one deserves to be abused in any way. You deserve love. If you don’t/didn’t receive that love from your father, always know you have a Father in Heaven who loves you more than your father ever could.

I hope you do have an awesome father though. If you do, give him a bear hug and be grateful to have the best protector you could have on this earth. If you don’t, pray for him, friend.

Here are the rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you to participate.
2. Use the original featured image.
3. Copy and paste the introduction and meaning of this tag at the beginning of your post, along with the links to both creators’ original posts. *This rule is very important. Please, please link this post and Purple Rose’s post so that as authors we may be alerted when a tag is published. It also gives us proper credit, which is much appreciated. Thank you
4. Answer the questions.
5. Nominate one or more people to participate.
6. Enjoy the rest of your month!

Here are the questions for this month’s tag:

1. What is your relationship like with your biological father, if anything at all?

I have a good relationship with my father, by God’s grace. I thank God for giving me such a kind and loving dad (And of course I thank God for my beautiful mother, too!!).

2. What is one thing you would change about your father if you could? What is one thing you wouldn’t change?

Please forgive me, but I would like to pass on this question. There are many things that I want to change about myself!!

3. Who do you celebrate on Father’s Day (your father, step-father, grandfather, uncle, etc.)?

I celebrate my dad and grandfather on Father’s Day. It is very important to show your gratitude to your father who loves you and takes care of you.

4. What was the most valuable thing he taught you?

The most valuable thing he taught me was about the Lord Jesus Christ, by whom I have access to God and heaven. Jesus Christ saved me from my sins!!!

5. What is one thing he does that you would never do?

He said he used to ride his bike up mountains. I’ll probably never do it! I just don’t have the strength and guts for it…

6. How do you honor him on Father’s Day?

I give him presents and a card. And of course I say “thank you” to him for being my father. And he’ll say, “I was predestined to be your father by God.” It’s amazing to think that even before the world existed God decided that my dad will be my father.

7. How has your relationship with him impacted the person/parent you are today?

I have gotten much of my dad’s traits, which I’m happy about. Thank you, Dad, for teaching me to become a responsible adult and for training me for life.

I will tag…

Hattush, Renee, and Bonnie

(There’s no obligation to do this, my nominees!)

Byron the Quokka: Next Question!

Here’s Question No. 2 of the Bell Mountain Trivia Contest!

Lee Duigon

See the source image

G’day! Byron the Quokka here, with Question No. 2 of the Bell Mountain Trivia Contest. I’ve watched Lee do this several times, so I’m sure I can do it, too, while he goes outside  and tries to write another book.

Right, here goes! Question No. 2–

What is the name of Martis’ horse?

Yeah, I know that’s an easy one, but no fear–they’ll get harder as we go along. Remember, whoever gets the most right answers wins a bicycle… Oops, shouldn’t’ve said that. The prize is supposed to be a book.

In case of a tie, you both win.

Now don’t make me look like some poor sap of a kangaroo by not coming up with answers. If this doesn’t work, I won’t get any more contests to run. Here, I’ll even give you a hint!

It’s not “Man O’ War.”

Our Contests Are Running!

The contests are running on Lee Duigon’s blog!! Let’s see who will be the winner!

G’day! It’s me, Byron the Quokka, eating a leaf. And the way readers are snoozing over our current contests, you’d think the winner was only going to get a leaf. Crikey!

We have a comment contest going, whoever posts Comment No. 47,000 wins an autographed book. Would you believe we’re still some 1,500 comments short?

Then there’s the Bell Mountain Trivia game, whoever gets the most right answers to our 20 questions will win a bicycle–whoops! I mean an autographed book. So far only one reader has volunteered an answer to the first question: Where does the best wine in Obann come from?

Ms. Crepuscular says “Connecticut” but I’m not counting her answer. I’m in charge of the contest and I won’t accept silly answers.

Well, I told Lee I could run these contests for him, so I hope I don’t wind up looking like some poor man’s wombat. Join…

Important Announcement! (from Byron the Quokka)

C’mon, everybody! Join the comment contest!!

G’day, it’s me, Byron the Quokka, with a super-important announcement!

We now have just over 45,000 comments on this blog, and Lee says I can start another comment contest as long as I don’t promise that the winner gets a bicycle.

So OK, new comment contest, with the finish line at 47,000, which means that the next contest will be for No. 50,000, a real milestone–and those dumb  wombats said we’d never make it! But first this contest. Whoever posts Comment No. 47,000 wins the prize.

I don’t know what he’s got against giving away bicycles. [Editor’s Note: Byron, it wasn’t ours to give! How many times do I have to tell you that?] So I guess an autographed copy of his new book, The Temptation–and if you’ve already got it, you can ask for a different book.

I don’t know. A bag of pretzels and a can of…
