G’day! Byron the Quokka here–and our Second Annual Christmas Carol Contest seems to be slowing down. So here’s my idea to pep it up!

The prize will be an autographed copy of Bell Mountain No. 12, His Mercy Endureth Forever. And if you want to find out if Ellayne and Dulayl get eaten by the giant hyena, you’re gonna need this book! It hasn’t been published yet, but it’s all ready to go and it should be coming out early next year.

The winner will be whoever requests the Christmas carol that gets the most views on the day it’s posted. So far the leader has 22 views. Do I hear 25? Thirty? And one thing we don’t have to worry about is running out of Christmas carols!

Here on Rottnest Island, we have no hyenas of any kind, not even little ones. All the quokkas agree that’s a…

G’day! Byron the Quokka here. We don’t get any snow on Rottnest Island: that picture’s me on our family vacation to New Jersey. Only chance I ever got to use my skis.

Anyhow, I’m here to report on the progress of our Second Annual Christmas Carol Contest. And the carol that got 24 views on Dec. 1 is still in the lead. No, I’m not going to tell you what it was, or who posted it. It’s sort of a blind taste test. I love those! Did you ever see the one where they’ve got people taste-testing cat food? Fantastic!

So let’s keep those carols coming, folks. I told Lee I could make this a tremendously successful contest and I won’t want to wind up looking like a doo-dah. It would be very bad for my prestige!

G’day, mates! Byron the Quokka here–and so is the prize for the human who posts Comment No. 50,000 on this blog.

Yep, it came in the mail this morning, so now you can be sure that one of you will win it. Here on Rottnest Island, us quokkas are getting up a pool to see who can pick the winner. I’m not allowed to tell you who I’m betting on, so don’t ask.

Any road, 50,000 comments is a big milestone and it’ll only come along once, so the prize has to be something special. Which it is!

Well, then, what is it? Ha! When we’ve got 49,000 views, that’s when I’ll tell you–and then watch everybody scramble to be No. 50,000. Crikey, we’re making history!

Oi! Where is everybody this morning?

Byron the Quokka here, mates–and I just stopped by to give you a friendly reminder, which is this.

The current ongoing comment contest is heading towards 50,000 comments on this blog, a major dinkum milestone, and there’ll be a special prize for the winner. We won’t tell you what the prize is until we’ve reached 49,000 comments–because we want to see the fur fly, once readers realize what a fantastic prize this is. We’re just a few hundred comments away from that.

Now I’m supposed to be running this thing, and it makes me look bad when there’s only one comment up so far today. A duck-billed platypus could do better than that!

G’day! Byron the Quokka here–and if I ever knew it’d be so much trouble, running a comment contest, I never would’ve volunteered to do it.

Right–we’re shooting for 47,000 comments, we’ve got 46,335, so that leaves 665 comments left to go. I thought we’d be done by now. I blame Lee. He should’ve listened to me and offered a bicycle as a prize. But no, he has to stick to his autographed books.

And then there’s the Bell Mountain Trivia Contest, I have to come up with Question No. 6. Tomorrow, maybe. My mum says running two contests at the same time is fair dinkum loopy and I never should’ve let him do it–but that’s all “How d’you get to Sydney Opera House? Practice, mate–practice!”

G’day! I promised to give you all Question No. 4 in the Bell Mountain trivia contest and it took me all day to think of it! Running these contests isn’t as easy as it looked.

Right, well, here it is–

Who gave Cavall to King Ryons?

Mind you, you can’t get these answers if you haven’t read any of Lee’s books–not unless you’ve got a special kind of mind that I’m sure doesn’t exist.

And now back to the family nest for a game of Clue!

G’day! Byron the Quokka here, reminding you that we have a comment contest going–and there aren’t any bloomin’ comments yet today!

Only 984 comments to go, to get to No. 47,000, and the reader who posts it wins… oh, one of those autographed books he’s always giving out. Anyone can play, as many times as you like, and all comments are eligible, except [riffles through rulebook; clears throat]–

“Comments abusive to anyone else on this site; comments containing blasphemy or profanity; commercials thinly disguised as comments; comments simply too inane to bother with.”

My cousin Lucy likes inane comments, but she’s the only one.

So let’s see how fast we can get to 47,000! And later today I’ll run up Question No. 4 in the Bell Mountain Trivia Contest.

(I hope these generate some excitement soon! This is my first job ever, and I don’t want to…
