  3. Create 7 unique questions.

Questions from Elisha McFarland:

1: What (or who) inspires you?

My father, mother, and brother inspire me! The Bible inspires me most of all!

2: What is your favorite blog to read?

Lee Duigon’s blog, and many more, of course!

3: Do you enjoy writing?

Yes, I do! I write in my diary every day (since 2015, and I’ve written a few entries when I was younger before the year 2015).

4: Do you have a specific goal for your blog?

My goal is that God will use this blog to reach even one of His elect.

5: What is your favorite conversation topic?

I like to talk about my favorite movies.

6: Do you write about this topic?

I mentioned movies before and I’m posting some on my blog, but I don’t get into detail about movies. So, the answer is close to “No, I don’t.”

7: Do you like coffee?

YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! No morning passes by without a cup o’ coffee in my mouth! (Except when I oversleep, that is… 😅)

8: Do you, like me, have a specific snack you eat while blogging?

I don’t eat snacks when I blog. (I don’t spend too much time on my blog, and most of the stuff I post here are just videos, so I don’t really have to spend too much time.) BUT! As I’m writing this post, I declare I’m eating an éclair! 😅

9: Who taught you how to write?

My dad and mom taught me how to write.

10: What is your strongest conviction?

My strongest conviction is that Christ died for my sins, paid the price of my sins, and secured my salvation. By the everlasting grace and mercy of God, I am convinced that I will go to Heaven when Jesus comes back or when I die, not because of what I have done, but by the merits of Jesus Christ alone!

11: Do you have vision for the future? If so, explain.

My vision for the future is… well, there’re quite a few clouds covering up my future (’cause I don’t have the ability to see through the future, obviously 😅), so I can’t really see well, but I’m hoping, if the Lord wills it, that I will get a good job, become a teacher and/or translator and/or evangelist, get married, etc.

12: What activities (besides writing) do you enjoy?

I really enjoy reading, teaching English, translating, Instagramming (if that’s even a word 😅) etc.

13: Do you think social media is good or helpful?

I think it’s helpful, especially when trying to spread the gospel, but it’s not that good in that it takes a lot of time away from the individual, when more time should be spent with family members.

14: What is your greatest wish?

My greatest wish is that Jesus Christ will come back soon and rule!

<><><><><><><>

Questions from Lydia Potter:

1: What is the most important part of each day to you?

The times when I pray to my Heavenly Father in Heaven!

2: What is your favorite way to exercise/work out?

I like to exercise with dumbbells. Do I use them often? No. Period. 😅

3: What is a food you could never get tired of eating?

Oh, I’ll never get tired of eating… POTATO CHIPS!!! I have to confess unto you all… I’m quite fond of junk food… 😅

4: What is your birthday month?

Good question! My birthday month is January. Coincidentally, the numbers in my birthday are the same numbers as the age when the Biblical Joshua died. (Egyptian Prime Minister Joseph also died at the same age.)

5: What is the scariest thing you’ve ever done?

The scariest thing I’ve ever done was teaching a class all by myself for the first time.

6: How often do you get a headache and how do you get rid of it?

I used to get a lot of headaches when I was younger, but recently I haven’t gotten very many, thanks to the Lord. When I want to get rid of it, I pull some of the hairs on my head upward to let the blood flow more freely inside. That way the headaches subside a little, if not altogether.

7: Have you ever told a joke to a bunch of people, but you were the only one that thought it was funny?

Almost all my jokes are only understandable by my brother, Jeremy, and I don’t really joke around other people other than my brother. Oh, I just though of something that is a little relevant to this question: I once said to a friend, “What do you spell with the letters, S-H-O-P?” My friend said “Shop.” Then I said, “What do you do when it’s a green light?” And then my friend said, “Go”… YOU’RE SUPPOSSED TO SAY “STOP!!!” Auuughhhhh!!!!

Yes, that joke was made up by Ray Comfort. Those who have watched his videos at Living Waters would have known that probably.

Thank you so much for those amazing questions, Elisha and Lydia!! I enjoyed them!

Comparing the True Gospel with the Prosperity Gospel — Elisha McFarland

The Prosperity Gospel is very dangerous. Elisha McFarland explains the difference between the true Gospel of Jesus Christ and the false Prosperity Gospel.

Give him a follow!

This was for my class, Comp II. I had to be unbiased, but it was a lot of fun to write! Two different gospels are being exalted in today’s churches. One gospel is grounded on the teachings of the Bible, while the other is based on the teachings of men. The former, known as the […]

Monday Q&A 6: God and Man — Elisha McFarland

In this post, Elisha McFarland explains the center of Christianity: God and man.

“In dying for the scum of the universe, Jesus bridged the gap between holiness and evil and brought us back into the company of His Father.” – Elisha McFarland

In our past three Q&A’s, we have discussed three highly important topics: the character of God, foundations of Christianity, and Scripture. Yet so far, none of these topics have been as important as the one to be discussed today. God and man. Deo et hominibus. Theós kai ánthropos. The center of Christianity.

via Monday Q&A 6: God and Man — Elisha McFarland

Monday Q&A 5: Scripture — Elisha McFarland

This post by Elisha McFarland, my friend and brother in Christ, was so good, I just had to share it with you all!

“Reading the Bible should be as necessary as eating; avoid it, and you’ll starve.” – Elisha McFarland

Scripture. The key component to Christianity at its core. The cornerstone of our beliefs. Without Scripture, we have no belief, no Faith, no arguments, and no understanding of God and His existence. The defense of Scripture is so important that it has become a large tenant to Apologetics. Without it, Christianity fails. Because of its […]

The Food Award #2

shamus-t-bones
Lydia nominated me on June 23rd, 2020.

I have been nominated by Lydia Potter for the Food Award! Thanks a lot, Lydia! Make sure you check out her blog and YouTube channel!

The Rules:
Thank the person that nominated you.
Pingback to the creator, Elisha at https://elishamcfarland.com/.
Use the same featured image as your nominator.
Answer the five questions.
Create five questions about food.
Nominate five people.

Questions from Lydia:

1. Do you like dried fruit?

Yes, indeed! I especially like raisins.

2. Have you ever eaten squirrel?

Squirrel? No, I’ve never eaten squirrel in my life. Is it good? 🤔❓🐿{😅)

3. What is your favorite soup?

Oh, I would have to say “Corn soup!” to that question! 🍵🥄😋{いただきます!!)

4. How do you like your steak cooked?

I like my steak medium-rare.

5. When was the last time you ate a pasta dish and what was it?

The last time I ate a pasta dish was on June 18th, 2020 (Say, my diary’s more useful than I thought! 😄), and that was Thursday I should say. It was a scrumptious meal that my mom made: pasta with tomato sauce and onions, and it was called “naporitan.” Sounds French, eh? (And later, after searching “naporitan,” I found out that I had made an error. It’s Italian. Of course it’s Italian, you dunderhead Josh!🤪)

But come to think of it, there was once a French emperor that had the name “Naporitan,” right? Emperor Naporitan, doesn’t really sound good, but hey, we can’t change history.

My nominees:

Lee Duigon

Rosy Marr

Bonnie

Hattush

Steve McLeod

My questions:

1. What’s your favorite soda drink?

2. What do you usually order at your favorite restaurant?

3. Do you like to listen to music while you eat?

4. Which ethnic food do you find the most to your liking?

5. Have you ever eaten sushi?

(All this talk about food makes me kinda hungry!)

Thank you again, Lydia, and I express my gratitude to all those who have read this! 😄

And thank you, God, for the food You so graciously give us each day!

Collab With Elisha McFarland

I did my first collab with Elisha McFarland, a.k.a. Africa Boy!! It was fun, Elisha! Thanks for letting me do this!

Please check out his cool blog by clicking on the picture below! And don’t forget to follow his blog if you haven’t yet!!

72998848_109144883842219_1872360846315749376_o

Here are Elisha’s answers to our interview.

1. What is your favorite book of the Bible and why?

Hmm, quite a difficult choice, but I believe my answer to be Romans. There is so much in there, I could read it twenty times and only comprehend 1%. There’s also a lot of guidance to younger Christians, so I greatly appreciate Luke’s foresight in his writing.

2. Who is your favorite Bible character? Besides Jesus?

Easy answer- Elisha. He had several great traits- he was bald, he was faithful, and when kids messed with him, he restrained himself and let God do the work.

3. What is your favorite Bible verse?

The Lecrae verse, Romans 1:16. It says, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” I am unashamed! Do what you want, call me names, insult my age, insult my upbringing, but I’m in this “Till the day I die”.

4. Do you like your name?

Of course! It’s actually related to the name of Jesus! They have similar meanings- Elisha means “God is salvation”, while Jesus means “to deliver”.

5. Which do you prefer: American food or Mexican food?

I don’t eat a lot of either, but American food would take a slight preference, given that it’s a bit more extensive. While Mexico has tacos, America has burgers, steak, ribs, etc.

6. What is your favorite African food? Matooke!

It’s a type of mashed plantain that’s served with peanut sauce. It’s quite filling, but I manage to eat more than the average man, so I usually request it on my birthday!

7. How many siblings do you have?

I have five biological siblings and three that I would consider adopted (although not legitimately). My biological siblings are, in order of age, Noah (13), Isaiah (12), Ellie (10), Malakai (5), and Selah (3). My non-biological siblings are Betty (29), Hannah (19), and Johnny (18).

8. If you could only write about one subject, what would it be?

Christianity. It’s such a massive niche to write in, I don’t think I’ll ever run out of content. Even when you’ve written about all possible doctrine, something new is unearthed or spoken about nearly every week.

9. Would you consider someone, besides Jesus, in the Bible as your role model?

Absolutely! Although Elisha is my favorite character, I would place Timothy or Paul as my role models for different reasons. Timothy was a young man during the writings of many of the New Testament letters, and many of the words addressed to him can be beneficial towards young Christian men. Paul, on the other hand, was an older but wiser man, one well-versed in Scripture. Quite possibly the most brilliant man of his time, he had the equivalent of two PhDs by the age of 21!

10. What’s your favorite movie?

Lord of the Rings. The music, characters, plotline, everything is completely unparalleled. Harry Potter takes a close second, but it’s rather dark, which marks it down a bit in my books.

11. Do you watch Marvel?

As often as I can! When a new movie comes out, I try to watch it as soon as possible, which isn’t too hard to do here, since movie tickets aren’t extremely expensive.

12. If you could choose one place to eat at for your birthday, where would it be?

Mesa Shawarma. It’s a shawarma place in Kampala and it serves quite possibly the best shawarma and fries in existence. If you haven’t had shawarma, you need to try it as soon as possible- it is a gift from God.

And here are my answers to our interview.

1. What is your favorite book of the Bible and why?

That is also a hard question for me! For now, my favorite book of the Bible is 1 Corinthians, mainly because Chapter 15 of 1 Corinthians is my favorite chapter in the Bible. Chapter 15 is like a summary of the Gospel, and is easy to understand.

2. Who is your favorite Bible character?

Jesus Christ is of course my favorite Bible character, because He is God Himself! He is the Word and the Lamb of God whose precious blood was shed for the remission of the sins of His elect. I believe that He died on the cross for me, for which I am forever grateful. He still lives because God raised Him from the dead on the third day after His death, and He will come back in glory to judge all the people who ever lived on earth, sending the unsaved people to Hell and bringing His chosen ones to His home to live eternally with Him in Heaven! I am looking forward to the day when I will meet Jesus, my Creator and my Lord and Savior, face to face.

3. What is your favorite Bible verse?

My favorite Bible verse comes from 1 Corinthians: “Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.” – 1 Corinthians 15:58

4. Do you like your name?

Yes, I do! I am thankful to my parents and ultimately God for giving me my name, which is the Hebrew equivalent to the name “Jesus,” which is Greek. My name, “Joshua,” means “Jehovah saves” or “Jehovah is salvation.”

5. Which do you prefer: American food or Mexican food?

Hmm, that’s tricky! I think I like Mexican best because I am a fan of tacos and taco rice. My favorite American foods, by the way, are hotdogs and hamburgers!

6. What is your favorite African food?

I don’t think I’ve tried African food before, but I would like to someday when I have the chance!

7. How many siblings do you have?

I have one brother named Jeremy, named after the Old Testament prophet, Jeremiah. He’s almost 16, and God has given him gifts in music and making things!

8. If you could only write about one subject, what would it be?

Like you, Elisha, I would write about Christianity, because it is the only thing worth writing and taking about — true Christianity, straight from the Holy Bible, which is God’s holy Word. God never lies, therefore His Word is true.

9. Would you consider someone, besides Jesus, in the Bible as your role model?

I would like to be someone like Peter was in Acts. He was once of a timid nature, and he went so far as to deny three times that he knew Christ (John 18). Right after he committed that wickedness, which Christ had foretold he would do (John 13:38), he repented (Luke 22:62), and a few days after Christ rose again from the dead, He appeared to Peter and commanded him to take care of the church (John 21). Later on, Peter, after being filled with the Holy Ghost, by Whom all true Christians have the capability to serve God, preached the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the very city in which Jesus was crucified (Acts 2). God gave him the gift of preaching and the courage to do so. I would like to be a preacher and a soul-winner like Peter, by God’s grace!

10. What’s your favorite movie?

I like Star Wars Episode 3, mainly because the lightsaber duels are so cool!

11. Do you watch Marvel?

Yes, sometimes. I’ve watched probably about half of them, but not in chronological order. My favorite one is Avengers: Endgame. My personal opinion is: If you watched one, you watched them all!

12. If you could choose one place to eat at for your birthday, where would it be?

I would choose Sushiro, which is a… (Yes, you guessed it!)… a sushi restaurant!! There’s nothing better than raw fish meat on rice dipped in soy sauce… or is there???

  8. I’m right smack in the middle between an introvert and an extrovert.

  10. The “M.” in my name doesn’t stand for “Mickeymouse”… it stands for “Makoto”, which means “truth” in Japanese.
  11. I want to become a better person, a person who is useful for Christ’s ministry.

11 Questions Asked By Elisha W. McFarland:

  1. Predestination or Free Will? Predestination. “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
29 For whom He did foreknow, He also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30 Moreover whom He did predestinate, them He also called: and whom He called, them He also justified: and whom He justified, them He also glorified.
31 What shall we then say to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us?
32 He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?
33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God’s elect? It is God that justifieth.
34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us.” – Romans 8:28-34
  2. How long have you been a Christian? I was born in a Christian family. Although baptized on June 16th, 2013, Father’s Day, it is a recent thing that I thought more about my sins and about the Lord Jesus Christ. I’m not sure when I became a Christian, but I have the assurance that Jesus Christ died on the cross for my sins, and that He paid the price for my sins. Jesus atoned for my sins! It is an every day thing that pray for the forgiveness of my sins. And I pray for all the true Christians in the world.
  3. What is your favorite type of smoothie? I like banana smoothies.
  4. McDonald’s or Wendy’s? McDonald’s. When you said “Wendy’s”, some nostalgic memories came back to my mind. It’s been more than a decade since I’ve been there.
  5. Do you follow sports? If so, what sport and what professional team? I sort of like baseball. I like Fukuoka Softbank Hawks and Los Angeles Angels, the latter is because Shohei Ohtani, last year’s American League Rookie of the Year, is in that team.
  6. The NBA Finals have been going on. Do you have any opinions on this? Dad kind of likes the Warriors, so I’m kind of rooting for them.
  7. What is your favorite thing about your way of schooling (homeschooling or real schooling)? Oh, without question, I definitely like homeschooling. It’s more Biblical, students don’t get taught the Big Lie called evolution, and students get to have more free time, and they learn a lot more than students going to “real” schools. I’ve been homeschooled my whole life.
  8. Do you think soda rots your brain? Well, no, not really… honestly I never even thought about that… I actually like soda, my favorite being root beer!
  9. What is your favorite chapter of the Bible? That’s a hard question! There are many answers, but my #1 favorite chapter of the Bible is Psalm 23. I recite it every night before I go to sleep.
  10. What is your favorite book? My favorite book is Bell Mountain, by Christian fantasy author, Lee Duigon. Bell Mountain is the first of 13 books (#12 is coming soon, and #13 is now being written by Mr. Duigon). I really love the whole Bell Mountain Series, and I hope some of you folks out there would read them! I’ve always wanted to make a post about the series, and I hope to do it someday soon! Please check out Lee Duigon’s blog at: http://leeduigon.wordpress.com/
  11. If you could live in one country for a week, what would it be? I’m fond of Latin music and nature, so I wouldn’t mind living in Peru for a week! A group I like is from Peru (Please go ahead and search “Rijchary” on my blog!) I’ve studied Spanish a little, but recently I haven’t… Muchas gracias for reading!
