Lydia’s blog: https://inhisserviceandlovingit.wordpress.com/blog/

<><><><><><><>

The Rules:

  1. Provide the link to the creator’s original post. Outstanding Blogger Award by Colton Beckwith.
  2. Answer the questions provided.
  3. Create 7 unique questions.
  4. Nominate 10 bloggers. Ensure that they are aware of their nomination. Neither the award’s creator, nor the blogger that nominated you, can be nominated.
  5. At the end of 2020, every blog that ping-backs the creator’s original post will be entered to win the 2020 Outstanding Blogger Award.

Questions from Elisha McFarland:

1: What (or who) inspires you?

My father, mother, and brother inspire me! The Bible inspires me most of all!

2: What is your favorite blog to read?

Lee Duigon’s blog, and many more, of course!

3: Do you enjoy writing?

Yes, I do! I write in my diary every day (since 2015, and I’ve written a few entries when I was younger before the year 2015).

4: Do you have a specific goal for your blog?

My goal is that God will use this blog to reach even one of His elect.

5: What is your favorite conversation topic?

I like to talk about my favorite movies.

6: Do you write about this topic?

I mentioned movies before and I’m posting some on my blog, but I don’t get into detail about movies. So, the answer is close to “No, I don’t.”

7: Do you like coffee?

YEEEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!! No morning passes by without a cup o’ coffee in my mouth! (Except when I oversleep, that is… 😅)

8: Do you, like me, have a specific snack you eat while blogging?

I don’t eat snacks when I blog. (I don’t spend too much time on my blog, and most of the stuff I post here are just videos, so I don’t really have to spend too much time.) BUT! As I’m writing this post, I declare I’m eating an éclair! 😅

9: Who taught you how to write?

My dad and mom taught me how to write.

10: What is your strongest conviction?

My strongest conviction is that Christ died for my sins, paid the price of my sins, and secured my salvation. By the everlasting grace and mercy of God, I am convinced that I will go to Heaven when Jesus comes back or when I die, not because of what I have done, but by the merits of Jesus Christ alone!

11: Do you have vision for the future? If so, explain.

My vision for the future is… well, there’re quite a few clouds covering up my future (’cause I don’t have the ability to see through the future, obviously 😅), so I can’t really see well, but I’m hoping, if the Lord wills it, that I will get a good job, become a teacher and/or translator and/or evangelist, get married, etc.

12: What activities (besides writing) do you enjoy?

I really enjoy reading, teaching English, translating, Instagramming (if that’s even a word 😅) etc.

13: Do you think social media is good or helpful?

I think it’s helpful, especially when trying to spread the gospel, but it’s not that good in that it takes a lot of time away from the individual, when more time should be spent with family members.

14: What is your greatest wish?

My greatest wish is that Jesus Christ will come back soon and rule!

<><><><><><><>

Questions from Lydia Potter:

1: What is the most important part of each day to you?

The times when I pray to my Heavenly Father in Heaven!

2: What is your favorite way to exercise/work out?

I like to exercise with dumbbells. Do I use them often? No. Period. 😅

3: What is a food you could never get tired of eating?

Oh, I’ll never get tired of eating… POTATO CHIPS!!! I have to confess unto you all… I’m quite fond of junk food… 😅

4: What is your birthday month?

Good question! My birthday month is January. Coincidentally, the numbers in my birthday are the same numbers as the age when the Biblical Joshua died. (Egyptian Prime Minister Joseph also died at the same age.)

5: What is the scariest thing you’ve ever done?

The scariest thing I’ve ever done was teaching a class all by myself for the first time.

6: How often do you get a headache and how do you get rid of it?

I used to get a lot of headaches when I was younger, but recently I haven’t gotten very many, thanks to the Lord. When I want to get rid of it, I pull some of the hairs on my head upward to let the blood flow more freely inside. That way the headaches subside a little, if not altogether.

7: Have you ever told a joke to a bunch of people, but you were the only one that thought it was funny?

Almost all my jokes are only understandable by my brother, Jeremy, and I don’t really joke around other people other than my brother. Oh, I just though of something that is a little relevant to this question: I once said to a friend, “What do you spell with the letters, S-H-O-P?” My friend said “Shop.” Then I said, “What do you do when it’s a green light?” And then my friend said, “Go”… YOU’RE SUPPOSSED TO SAY “STOP!!!” Auuughhhhh!!!!

Yes, that joke was made up by Ray Comfort. Those who have watched his videos at Living Waters would have known that probably.

Thank you so much for those amazing questions, Elisha and Lydia!! I enjoyed them!

Exposure to Covid – Update — In His Service and Loving It

Here’s an update from Lydia about the condition of the Covid-19 virus in her church. Please continue in prayer, that the church members will be healed and that there will be no further spread. We must thank the Lord for keeping Lydia’s family safe so far!

6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

– Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV

First of all, I wanted to thank all of you for your kind words, love, and prayers the past few days regarding our family dealing with being exposed to Covid and dealing with the loss of my little sibling. They mean so much to my family and I. My mom was deeply touched by all […]

Sunshine Blogger Award #8

SunshineBloggerAward
Lydia kindly gave me this award on July 14th, 2020!

Thank you, Lydia, for nominating me for the Sunshine Blogger Award!

Lydia’s blog: https://inhisserviceandlovingit.wordpress.com/blog/

YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCJMS5e88_rp8LxtnJH-kjZw

Rules:

1. Thank the person who nominated you and provide a link back to their blog so others can find them.

2. Answer the 11 questions asked by the blogger who nominated you.

3. Nominate 11 new bloggers and ask them 11 new questions.

4. Notify the nominees by commenting on one of their blog posts.

5. List the rules and display a sunshine blogger award logo on your post and/or your blog site.

Lydia’s Questions

1. Diet or regular soda?

I usually drink regular soda. Root beer’s my favorite, BTW!

2. Water with ice or no ice?

I like water with no ice. Well, it depends on the ice. If the ice is from the fridge, then when it melts in the water it makes the water taste kinda bad.

3. What is your favorite animal that lives in the sea?

Good question!! I was always a fan of sea animals! Let’s see… this is turning out to be a mind-user. Ah-ha! My favorite sea creature is the GIANT SQUID!!! Just imagine seeing it in the ocean fighting with a gigantic whale that is approximately the same size! (Of course, you will need a submarine to see that!)

If Mr. Mosasaurus was still alive, then I would have put him on the victory stand.

4. What is your favorite board game?

I think I’m going to say Scrabble. Chess comes super close second.

5. What was your biggest highlight from the past week?

We ate at a gluten-free noodle restaurant! Haven’t been to a restaurant in ages, it seems!

6. What is your biggest pet peeve?

Pet peeve? I can honestly say I’ve never heard that word before you mentioned it! After searching for the meaning on the internet, I found myself thinking, “Hmm… a small thing that annoys me… What can it be?” And then “💡” went my brain! I get annoyed when I drop things on the floor… from books to tissues. You know, the germs and all. I hate germs. The moment something touches the floor, I’m like… (Wilhelm scream 😱)!!!

7. What question do you get asked most?

In real life, probably the question I get asked the most is “How are you?”, to which I almost always reply, “I’m fine, thank you, and you?” Actually I get asked that question a lot in the blogging world, too! Thanks, guys, for thinking about me!

8. What was the last meal you ate?

Of course it depends on when I post this, but let’s see what the answer will be…

Wait a minute here! Am I beginning to write a poem or something?

“Let all of us see

What the answer will be,

Whether it’s today

Or some other fine day!”

Joshua Swanson (July 21st, 2020, at precisely 1:20 AM!!!… Oops, now you know what time I go to bed!)

July 21st Noon Update: Well, here we go! The answer is… (drums and cymbal)

HAMBURG STEAK AND CHICKEN AND VEGETABLE MIX!!!

You can forget that poem now.

9. Do you prefer hot or cold temps outside?

I definitely prefer cold temps outside. It’s just a matter of putting on more layers, whereas in hot temps… I hate summer! Hot temps = Hot tempers.

10. What is your favorite flavor of gum?

I haven’t chewed on gum for centuries! (Wait a minute, I haven’t lived that long yet.) Well, I wanted to say that I haven’t chewed on gum for a long time! But my favorite gum flavor is mint.

11. On a scale of 1-10, (1 being the lowest, 10 being the highest) how would you rate yourself as being an adventurous person?

Hmm… another good one. I’d say 3 or 4? I’m an indoors person, but I want to be more of an adventurous outdoors person. It’s probably healthier, and you get to know more about God’s wonderful creation!

Exposed to Covid – Please Pray — In His Service and Loving It

Please pray that Lydia and her family won’t get the coronavirus. Please pray for her church as well.

“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.” – Romans 8:28

Yes, you read that title correctly. Unfortunately, my family and I have been exposed to Covid.😬 So far, 10 people in our church that we’ve been around either have the virus or are very sick and have been tested waiting for results. Looks like I’ll be the next person making one of those 2 week […]

shamus-t-bones
Lydia nominated me on June 23rd, 2020.

I have been nominated by Lydia Potter for the Food Award! Thanks a lot, Lydia! Make sure you check out her blog and YouTube channel!

The Rules:
Thank the person that nominated you.
Pingback to the creator, Elisha at https://elishamcfarland.com/.
Use the same featured image as your nominator.
Answer the five questions.
Create five questions about food.
Nominate five people.

Questions from Lydia:

1. Do you like dried fruit?

Yes, indeed! I especially like raisins.

2. Have you ever eaten squirrel?

Squirrel? No, I’ve never eaten squirrel in my life. Is it good? 🤔❓🐿{😅)

3. What is your favorite soup?

Oh, I would have to say “Corn soup!” to that question! 🍵🥄😋{いただきます!!)

4. How do you like your steak cooked?

I like my steak medium-rare.

5. When was the last time you ate a pasta dish and what was it?

The last time I ate a pasta dish was on June 18th, 2020 (Say, my diary’s more useful than I thought! 😄), and that was Thursday I should say. It was a scrumptious meal that my mom made: pasta with tomato sauce and onions, and it was called “naporitan.” Sounds French, eh? (And later, after searching “naporitan,” I found out that I had made an error. It’s Italian. Of course it’s Italian, you dunderhead Josh!🤪)

But come to think of it, there was once a French emperor that had the name “Naporitan,” right? Emperor Naporitan, doesn’t really sound good, but hey, we can’t change history.

My nominees:

Lee Duigon

Rosy Marr

Bonnie

Hattush

Steve McLeod

My questions:

1. What’s your favorite soda drink?

2. What do you usually order at your favorite restaurant?

3 Facts About Me:

I believe that the Bible is true.
I like to write my diary every day.

2. What are your 3 favorite things you do every day?

I write in cursive.

5. When was the last time you ate bacon?
The first thing I wrote was: “Hmm… I don’t remember exactly when I last ate bacon, but I think I ate some with fried rice (called “chahan”) four or five weeks ago,” but later, the time of my latest bacon consumption changed. On June 10th, 2020, Wednesday, at approximately 12:00 PM, I ate bacon strips, and, oh, they tasted swell.

(P.S. – I also ate bacon on June 17th, Wednesday, when it showed up in my lunchbox. Thanks, Mom!)

(P.P.S. – Sigh. This is what’ll happen if you wait until after Father’s Day to post this… you get to eat a whole pig before you can answer the question!!! On June 19th, Friday, Mom served us some delicious Japanese food which included some salmon, miso soup, and, you guessed it, bacon. I ate bacon on that day at around 12:15 PM, by the way! So what!?)

(P.P.P.S. – On June 21st, 2020, which, come to think of it, was yesterday, I ate chahan, and I don’t think I have to mention what was in it. 😉 )

Ten Things That Make Me Happy Tag and the Before & After Tag!

Here I am with another post! Sorry for taking such a long break, but thanks for letting me have some respite! (Not that I was totally off my blog. I made some more pages and I hope you would check them out! 😊)

I was nominated for two tags not too long ago, so let me crack my knuckles and get to it already!

Thank you, Lydia, for nominating me for the 10 Things That Make Me Happy Tag and thank you, Robert, for nominating me for the Before And After Tag, a.k.a. the Then and Now Tag! Please check out their blogs by clicking on the links!

I hereby nominate the readers who are reading this post for these two tags… yes, YOU!!!

(It’s not my idea; some bloggers do the same thing!)

10 Things That Make Me Happy Tag

The Rules:

1. List 10 things that make you happy. (Linking to them, sharing pictures, writing poems about them, telling jokes, etc. are all encouraged but not required.)

2. Tag 10 people who make you happy (and notify them of their tag).

Ten Things That Make Me Happy

1. God’s Word

Reading God’s Word, the Holy Bible, gives me great joy! It’s 100% truth, and I thank the Lord for giving us His Word to read. “Every word of God is pure: He is a shield unto them that put their trust in Him” (Proverbs 30:5). “Thy Word is very pure: therefore Thy servant loveth it” (Psalm 119:140).

2. Salvation

Jesus Christ saved me, a great sinner, from my sins by God’s grace alone! “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus” (Romans 3:23-24). Jesus Christ came to earth to bear the punishment due to my sins. I am only saved because Jesus shed His blood on the cross as the Perfect Substitute for God’s elect. “For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8-9).

I thank the Lord for Jesus Christ!

3. My Family

I am so grateful to God for giving me such a wonderful family!

4. Reading

I really love reading books, especially the Bible. I am relatively a slow reader (not as much as before though). Please check out the “Recommended Books” page at the top!

5. Sleeping 💤

Do I need to explain why sleep makes me happy? I don’t think I have to! ZZZ!

6. Smiles and Laughter 😂

(Does that count for one? I hope so.) Who would not be happy when someone smiles at you? It is good to be cheerful and happy in whatever state you are in. Laughter is the best medicine, so they say!

7. Music

I love listening to music! I especially like listening to instrumentals. Music is a gift from God, and I’m thankful for it!

8. Blogging

What do you mean? (You may be thinking) You just took a whole month off!

Well, that doesn’t mean that I don’t like blogging. We all need a break once in a while!

What I like about blogging is that we can chat with people all over the world and make many friends!

9. Writing My Diary

I’ve been keeping a diary since January 1st of 2015! (I have some diaries prior to 2015, but I did not continue them when I was little. How disappointing!)

10. Talking

And finally… talking. Yeah, talking makes me happy. To be frank with you, I am a quiet person who doesn’t really talk much. I usually let other people do the talking, but when I get a chance to speak, I unzip my mouth and try to talk the best I can. I dare not define myself as an extrovert, and I believe I “talk” more on the internet than I do in person.

That’s that! I hope I didn’t bore you too much.

Now let’s go on to the…

The Before And After Tag

20200129_154649_00001981382599954774216

The Rules:

It’s pretty simple really: use the image at the top of the post; answer the 10 questions; and tag the people you’d like to answer the questions. 🙂

1. Who was family for you growing up?

My immediate family, namely my father, mother, and brother, and they still are.

2. Who is family for you now?

My brothers and sisters in Christ (who are saved only by God’s amazing grace through the blood of Jesus Christ alone), and, of course, Dad and Mom and Jeremy Swanson.

3. Where did you grow up?

I grew (and am growing) up in Kyushu, Japan.

4. Where do you live now?

I live in Fukuoka Prefecture.

5. What did you want to be when you were older?

I wanted to be… a soup chef, of all things. For some reason, I wanted to open a soup restaurant and feed different kinds of soup to my customers.

6. What do you do now?

I help my dad in his business.

7. What’s your earliest memory?

Hmm… that seems like an easy question to answer, but actually it’s quite hard! Maybe making a snowman with Mom at age 3 is my earliest memory! 😊

8. What’s one of your most recent memories?

My recent memory? Writing this post! I still remember that!

9. What do you consider your greatest achievement so far?

My greatest achievement so far is, by the grace of God, being able to have a blog that, if the Lord wills it, I hope will bring others to Christ!

10. What is your biggest hope in this life?

My biggest hope is that, because Jesus paid the fine for my sins, I am forgiven through repentance and saving faith that only God can give, and that Jesus my Savior will take me to Heaven to live with Him forever!! 😀

And like I aforetime mentioned, YOU have been nominated for these awesome tags. Yes, YOU who are looking at the screen and reading these words right now!

Thanks for reading. See you again!
